Re: MoBDeep.net Redesign Outline: March 2010
Lets see, updates...
Forums: 3.1.1.2 - One mod added, Caesar 3.1.3 - Classifieds redone, each game/platform has its own classifieds. Maybe it will be easier to navigate. Sorting through it was horrible. Also, did some pruning in a couple different sections to eliminate old threads with no responses. Did a bunch of reading of way old threads and closed and hidden sections, like the Codice and old Branch sections, but I didn't decide anything on that point. 3.2.1.2 - Installed the Evo chatbox plugin, but i broke the forums because the language file was bad or something: that was a week ago. I disabled it for now. EDIT: Fixed two image problems in both templates: Relating to the tag.gif image for tagged posts and the "unknown_sg.gif" for social group avatars. 1. MoBDeep.net: Fixed a hiccup that happened server side today, also downloaded the new joomla. Just looking into it at the moment.

3.2 Plugins and Addons - Completed
All current used products and features updated to their latest versions. Chatboxes switched. The arcade might benefit from a few new games, but I don't really want to search for them right now. If anyone wants to help, they can start the search at vB.org's forum section dedicated to ibProArcade... and post the links here. Also, added some missing images in the forum. Took stock of MoBDeep's file hierarchy, refound some passwords. 2.1.5 Social Groups - Added some group categories matching what has been outlined, so creators can put their group in the right category.

Re: MoBDeep.net Redesign Outline: March 2010
When you come to the forums and you aren't signed in there is a message/announcement regarding troubles logging in. If memory serves me correctly this was activated when MoB switched url's from mobgaming.net back to mobdeep.net. If my memory is in fact correct this is something that is old and should maybe be removed.
If you screw up your log in VB has an error message that has a solution or loss password form, of course this entails that an admin actually logs into the backend more regularily to check such things. This message can also be adjusted to include the aim of an admin in the even that a use did have problems. Idk why I am going to such lengths on this, but Idk that message that you see when not logged in is kind of directed at members already a part of the site and is kinda ugly to see if your a first time member. just my opinion do as you wish <crawls back into jungle>

Re: MoBDeep.net Redesign Outline: March 2010
I believe you should design the website to feed into the sponsors alot more efficiently.
Examples: A product reviews section would be nice and help MoB's sponsors out alot more: http://goloaded.com/news/ On loaded's website, they have their main article's split up into : Latest Reviews, Community News, Featured News, and Latest Media because mob is console based, it could be something along the lines of Latest Reviews, Community News, MoB Console News, MoB PC News. Also, you shouldn't really have the sponsors on the site different sizes, if you feel you need to label them differently, you could use this example : http://myeg.net/index.php You should think of doing something like "The hot seat, brought to you by turtle beach section under mob news", this would be like an interview with one of the mob players. Myself being a member of the pc management, I find it a bit difficult to do certain needed things. I believe this would help me out quite a bit! |

Re: MoBDeep.net Redesign Outline: March 2010
- Fixed epidemic's little thing a while ago, but wasn't enough to warrant a new post/bump to the thread.
- Thanks relix, good ideas and good examples. - I am still chugging away on back end data transfer and clean up. Tho, these immediate two weeks I haven't spent a lot of continuous time on the site development. The outline is what's happening. As always, there is room for discussion, but the outline is the game plan we are following. I know summer break is coming up... a few people might show up and want to help out, so here are a few things I can think of. For those that want to help: Note: This classifies as volunteer work, but I like to give credit to those that help me out.
Post it up. Just don't ask me to personally teach you how to do something. I take design classes and apply what i've learned, i do not teach them.
